BV'ers: Before I went off to the CHILLER THEATRE Weekend I took in the latest Robert Rodriguez/Quentin Tarantino Opus GRINDHOUSE ...
Needless to say I was not disappointed and had a feeling of nostalgia thanks to the 70's atmosphere the fil projected...

GRINDHOUSE starts off with the kitschy title cards we remember from the 70's one show theatres and then gets into the hilarious trailer MACHETE with Danny Trejo as the title character who takes on corrupt politicians and other Anglo villians exploting Illegal Aliens (They F**ked with the wrong Mexican!!!) with the help of Cheech Marin as a vigilante priest...and several shrapened kitchen tools

Then we get into the first feature PLANET TERROR which reminds me of all those great 70's B Movies like WITHOUT WARNING.... and TRACK OF THE MOONBEAST....
Rose McGowan plays stripper/exotic dancer Cherry Darling who decides to quit and go off and search for a better life as a stand up comic...Meanwhile Bruce Willis and several of his Black Ops Unit decide to unleash some chemical warfare and create problems for the locale populace by transforming in to pus filled sore covered creatures.... :x

Rose runs into her old boyfriend El Rey (Freddie Rodriquez) and JT the Texas BBQ King (Jeff Fahey who I met at Chiller and he's one **** of a nice guy !!!) and proceeds to get her leg taken off in a freak accident...
Meanwhile Dr. William Block and his treacherous lesbian Wife Dakota try to stem the zombie tide along with Sheriff Hague (Michael Biehn who I also met at CT) and his befuddled Deputy (Tom Savini who was also at CT) ....
Cherry, El Rey, The Sheriff, and Dakota are then joined by the Crazy Baby Sitter Twins (The Oh So Sweet Electra and Elise Avellan who also were at CT),
several of Cherry's former coworkers, and other townsfolk to blast the Zombies with the added help of a CAR-15 attached to Roses stump....Yet Bruce Willis and his Rapist subordinate Quentin Tarantino try to kill them off but Rose & Co. manage to get to safety with several major losses....
PLANET TERROR - 3 and a half Stars out of 4 !!!!
Then we get 3 snazzy Trailers, WEREWOLF WOMEN OF THE SS. directed by Rob Zombie and featuring cameos from Sybil Danning, Udo Kier, Bill Moesley , Rob's Wifey Sheri Moon, and Nicholas Cage as FU MANCHU !!!
DON'T is a English type slasher thriller set in a haunted house with all sorts
of weird and evil characters and THANKSGIVING which is a salute to all those Holiday themed slasher flicks with hilarious black humour and a Cheerleader who strips whilst jumping up and down on a trampoline and meeting with a graphic end 8O
DEATHPROOF is the second feature which shows Kurt Russell as the rugged Stuntman Mike who goes after uppity women in their cars and then meets his match from some Movie Production crew chicks Lee (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), Abernathy (Rosario Dawson), Kim (Tracie Thoms), and Zo? Bell (played by herself and Uma Thurmans stunt double in Kill Bill), who proceed to lay some serious whoop *** on Mike ....

If you loved DIRTY MARY, CRAZY LARRY, VANISHING POINT, and TWO LANE BLACKTOP then you'll enjoy DEATHPROOF....It's a little to talky and then gets off to a slow start but it is enjoyable....
So check out GRINDHOUSE and relive those 70's memories !!! 8)

Thanks for the review. I can't wait to see Grindhouse, though I've heard that when it comes to the UK it is to be shown as two seperate movies. A shame - I used to love double bills when I was a kid.

Rumor-mill has it Grindhouse will be released on DVD as two seperate movies also. Not even a 2-disc set, but two seperate releases. Haven't heard anything about the trailers remaining or being discarded from the upcoming DVD cuts.

I wouldn't hold my breath on a Grinhouse sequel, or any of the trailers being expanded into full-length features. With marketing included, Grindhouse cost $100Million to make & release. As of last Sunday it hadn't even pulled in $20Million.
